During the 1996-97 concert season, the St. Olaf Band, under direction of Timothy Mahr, performed a variety of works providing witness to the saving grace of Christian faith. The season's highlight was the premier of Faith, a powerfully eloquent work by Andrew Boysen, Jr. that centers on Gods's omnipresence and omnipotence within a Christian's life. Written for the band's performance at the 1997 American Bandmasters Association National Convention, Faith subsequently has received great critical acclaim.
